My name is Erik and I’m an award-winning (3rd place at the 2014 Nathan’s Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest, amateur division) composer of film, concert, and bluegrass music based in Washington, D.C. I also write and produce songs for advertisements, podcasts, and everything in between. Over the years I’ve written music for four feature films, over 25 short films, dozen of advertisements, multiple concert music commissions, and one very sensual, 80s inspired, synth-pop album that reached a global audience of maybe a dozen households.

I was born on the musty waters of the Potomac river in Virginia and am still kicking it there now because I figured, as a composer, I should always be close and ready to go back into my parents basement.

While my background is primarily in traditional film music, I love to write all over the musical spectrum: from classical to electronic to folk to musical theater. I play piano, drums, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and a few other instruments not well enough to make a career out of it and that’s why I compose so i can tell other people how to play things to make up for my insecurities while I just really 'play’ the computer.

I received my masters degree in composition and theory from New York University and studied, as an undergraduate, at William and Mary where I got a degree in history and music because why not go for two useless degrees instead of one. When not composing, I’m either doing something super cool, I promise, or I’m unsuccessfully trying to get my career as a professional gamer off the ground.
